It’s that time of year again, Spring is fast approaching and our thoughts are turning to longer warmer days and romance, with St Valentine’s Day a key date in the diary.

St Valentine’s Day is second only to Christmas when it comes to card sending, with more than 145 million cards sold every year. Apparently more than 36 million boxes of heart shaped chocolates and over 50 million roses will also be given on this day.

Romantic dinner

Of course there are many different ways to celebrate with your loved ones, but I think the traditional options are hard to beat. If a romantic dinner for two is what most appeals to you then you are spoilt for choice in Crieff. For a formal dinner why not head to Knock Castle Hotel and Spa and try their 7 course taster menu alongside a chilled bottle of something sparkling?

Crieff Hydro offers a range of dining choices from it’s grandest restaurant, Miekle, which serves contemporary Scottish food to it’s Brasserie or Piccolo for pizzas and sharing platters. Yann’s, The Lounge and Delivino all offer a more informal dining experience alongside a fantastic range of European inspired food.

If you love the warm atmosphere of a pub then again you are spoilt for choice, with The Tower, The Quaich, Square Bar and The Meadow Inn all serving top notch food, often from locally sourced ingredients.

The card

If you prefer to take a lower key approach by simply giving your loved one a card, or by sending an anonymous card to someone admired from a distance, then Red Squirrel Café, RS McColls and Carnelian Crafts all have a wide range of cards to chose from.

Say it with flowers

Flowers are another great way to let someone know how much you love them, but don’t feel that it can only be red roses. After the long cold of winter what could more uplifting than a bunch of Spring flowers? Bluebell’s Florist and Victoria Bloom both have an extensive range of flowers to chose from, including roses….

And chocolates

And finally to the other classic gift, chocolates, heart shaped or otherwise. Gordon and Durward have a wide range of heart shaped and love themed chocolates and sweets to choose from including cute edible chocolate teddy bears and a chocolate game. You can also fill a box of your choice with chocolates and sweets from their extensive counter. The Crieff Food Co have a range of pre-boxed chocolates, heart shaped lollipops and soft marshmallow hearts, they’ve also got some chocolate unicorns if you fancy something a little different. Crunch Munch stock a huge range of familiar big brand chocolates and sweets from small to very large boxes and everything in between.

So many different ways to express your love, both to that special someone in your life and to the local business you are supporting by shopping locally.
